On the late summer evening of August 20, 2008 , the 806’ bulk freighter M/V Charles M. Beeghly enters Superior Bay of St. Louis River in Duluth , MN along with a much smaller recreational watercraft. Both vessels have come through the Duluth Ship Canal and under the Aerial Lift Bridge together with the Beeghly now enroute to the CN/Missabe Docks in west Duluth to load iron ore pellets. As a bulk carrier capable of transporting cargoes of other loosely, unpackaged commodities such as coal and limestone, the Beeghly is strickly on an ’iron ore run’ on this trip.
