A cool, overcast October 14, 2005 finds me along the banks of Ahmoo Creek in an isolated area of northeastern Minnesota. So desolate is this spot that these beavers, first the young, smaller one then the adult and larger one, have swum right up to me just to see what I was. It could be that I was the only human they had ever seen as neither gave the tail smack on the water to sound the danger alarm.
