High atop a dead white birch tree sits an immature broad-winged hawk. I watched him for quite some time as it perched there, hardly moving at all. This seemed to be a perfect spot to watch for its next meal and soon enough something finally caught its eye and the raptor cocked its head toward the ground. A quick leap off the birch and it was off in the attack mode for its next meal. Small rodents, birds and even small ducks are usually on the menu for this migrating hawk.
