Ridin The Wake

Blatnik Bridge, Twilight

Downbound for Conneaut

Downbound for Conneaut
(24.5 x 18.5 in.),  $5500.00

As the sun nears the western horizon in Duluth, MN the entire harbor area is washed in a golden tone only two days after Thanksgiving Day. Now into the Christmas season and less than a minute ago, the enormous 858 foot long M/V Roger Blough whistled the Aerial Lift Bridge with three thunderous blasts, one long and two shorts, the Bridge answered with the same Master’s Salute. The vessel’s captain has no doubt called down to the chief engineer in the engine room for more power, evidenced by the thickening, darker smoke coming from the stack as the Blough departs the ship canal and into Lake Superior. After loading over 40,000 tons of iron ore pellets at CN Duluth, the Canadian National Railway Dock in West Duluth, the Great Lakes Fleet vessel is downbound to Conneaut, OH, about four days away.
